"This is a tremendous hire for the organization and our fans," Hall said. "Daron was pursued by other teams to broadcast their games and we are fortunate to have him in our booth for the foreseeable future. He will be a great match with Mark Grace and will offer a fresh perspective of D-backs games to new and long-time baseball fans."

Sutton, the son of Hall of Fame pitcher Don Sutton, just completed his fifth season (2002-2006) as the Brewers' play-by-play announcer on FOX Sports Net North. He won an Emmy Award in 2003 from the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and was nominated for a Regional Emmy in 1999, 2004 and 2006. Sutton also handled play-by-play duties for FOX's Major League Baseball coverage this past season.

Prior to joining the Brewers, Sutton spent two seasons (2000-01) as a radio play-by-play announcer for the Anaheim Angels, where he also hosted pre-game programming and a post-game call-in show. He began his Major League broadcasting career as a member of the Atlanta Braves broadcast team on FOX Sports Net South in 1998-99, serving in a play-by-play capacity and as a host for the Braves pre-game show.

"I am ecstatic to join the Diamondbacks at a point that looks to be an exciting time for the organization with all of the young talent the team has assembled," Sutton said. "I have always enjoyed visiting Chase Field when I was with other teams broadcasting games and I look forward to connecting with Diamondbacks fans throughout the state of Arizona."

Sutton's broadcast work outside of local baseball telecasts has been quite impressive. He began his broadcasting career as a tape editor in 1993 for the CNN Airport Network before moving to anchor for CNN Sports in December 1994. He also handled Southeastern Conference collegiate athletic telecasts for FSN South in men's and women's basketball, swimming and diving, gymnastics, track and field and volleyball. For the past two years, Sutton has called UW-Milwaukee men's televised basketball games.

The 37-year-old also followed in his father's footsteps on the baseball field. Sutton was a pitcher with the Boise Hawks, a Single-A affiliate of the Angels, in 1992 and spent part of the 1993 season in the Braves organization. He graduated from Auburn University-Montgomery in 1992 with a degree in communications.
