The 56th Golden Bell Awards (GBA) unveiled its list of winners at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall on Oct. 3. This year's submissions received 1,781 entries, of which 192 were shortlisted for the 39 awards.
The fantasy comedy-drama "The Magician on the Skywalk (天橋上的魔術師)" was the biggest winner, taking home six awards, including best television series, best directing, best lighting design, best cinematography, best production design, and best newcomer.
Chung Hsin-ling (鍾欣凌) clinched her third best leading actress award for the television comedy series "U Motherbaker (我的婆婆怎麼那麼可愛)."
Hsueh Shih-ling (薛仕凌), known as a member of local hip-hop quartet Da Mouth (大嘴巴), took home two individual honors which are best leading actor for the "Born Into Loving Hands (生生世世)," and best supporting actor for the "Workers (做工的人)."
Singapore-based Malaysian actor Christopher Lee (李銘順), who previously won the award for best leading actor at the 49th GBA, bagged the prize of best leading actor in a miniseries or TV movie for the "Workers” this year.
Sam Tseng (曾國城) was named winner of the high-profile award best host in a reality or game show for the "A Wonderful Word (一字千金-鬥字英雄會)." Jesse Tang (唐綺陽), Aaron Yan (炎亞綸) and Sandy Wu (吳姍儒) received awards for best host in a variety show.
A special contribution award was given to 76-year-old weathercaster Jen Li-yu (任立渝), who worked for several news stations for 53 years until his retirement this May.
The Golden Bell Awards - Taiwan's equivalent of the Emmy Awards - is one of the three major annual awards presented in Taiwan by the Ministry of Culture.
