It's game over for Sheanu! EastEnders star Danny Walters will be bowing out of his role as Keanu Taylor as one of the show's biggest stories reaches a long-awaited climax.
Bosses have teased a "dramatic and blistering" end to the ongoing Keanu and Sharon plot, with sources also confirming that "the truth is going to come out in spectacular fashion".
This means that we can more or less rule out Keanu walking off into the sunset, but we do have a handful of more dramatic theories on his final chapter...
1. Gets killed by Phil
Keanu was always playing with fire by getting involved with Sharon (no one messes with the Mitchell faaamily) and their affair has been a ticking timebomb for over a year now.
With that in mind, fans have been eagerly awaiting the explosive moment that Phil discovers his wife's betrayal with the hunky mechanic – and that he's the father of Sharon's unborn baby. Therefore it's not really a surprise that one of the most popular theories right now involves Keanu meeting a grisly fate at the hands of the Walford hardman.
Fuelling the rumours, EastEnders' executive producer Jon Sen said: "Keanu's story is set to come to a dramatic and blistering conclusion in the near future as one of the best kept secrets on the Square is finally revealed with devastating consequences."
2. Or Ben…
Ever since returning to the Square, Ben has been proving that he is very much cut from the same cloth as his dangerous dad. In fact, there's been some telltale signs that he could be even worse. And given that there's never been any love lost between Ben and Keanu, we think the Taylor lad should be afraid. Very afraid.
Ben is currently still in the dark about Sheanu, but given his proclivity for getting involved in every scandal in Walford (and every story!), we doubt it will stay that way for long.
Could Ben take the ultimate revenge on Keanu to ensure he's out of his family's lives forever? Like father and son, and all that!
3. Gets shot by Martin
A week ago, Martin might have seemed like a wildcard in the Sheanu finale, but new paparazzi pictures have suggested that this might not be the case.
Martin has been edging closer to the bad side in recent weeks, having unwittingly become embroiled in Ben's criminal and convoluted world. Unfortunately for Martin, brand new spoiler shots yesterday hinted that his darkest hour is still yet to come.
James Bye was filming on location with Kellie Bright, who plays Linda Carter, and Danny Walters, for a shocking story set to play out over the festive season. Teasers have suggested that a gunshot will go off while Keanu is alone in a disused factory, so could he meet a fatal end at the hands of Martin, of all people?
4. Dies in a Christmas stunt
If we take the above out of the equation, Danny actually teased a worrying fate for his alter-ego weeks ago, when we caught up with him at the Inside Soap Awards.
Hinting that there will be fireworks – and some stunts – when the truth comes out at Christmas, Danny told Digital Spy: "The whole Sheanu story has been bubbling for a long, long time. It's about to get much more serious, much more darker and much more interesting – to watch, to perform and to be a part of.
"It's going to be a fantastic Christmas. It's explosive, big emotions, big stunts – like good, classic Christmas EastEnders style."
Long-term viewers of the show will know that EastEnders is infamous for its memorable, but simultaneously miserable, festive episodes. It's also certainly no stranger to a Christmas accident – or a death. Will Keanu be six feet under before 2020 arrives?
5. Goes on the run
Of course, there is every chance that Keanu does live to tell the tale following the Sheanu reveal – but is forced out of Walford as a result.
If Phil does go on a rampage, Keanu could opt to save his own skin and do a runner, like he did before. But given how excited he is about impending fatherhood, we've got our doubts about Keanu leaving of his own accord....
6. Leaves with Louise
It's been obvious for a long time that Keanu and Louise weren't going to get their happy-ever-after. At least not in Walford, anyway.
Keanu's affair with Sharon did happen before he fell in love with Louise (ignoring this moment, obviously), meaning there is still a slim chance that the teenager will decide to forgive and forget when the whole sorry mess unravels.
However, unless EastEnders bosses are keeping quiet about plans for Tilly Keeper to bow out too, it seems pretty unlikely that Louise will heading off with him.
7. Meets his dad?
With Keanu about to be exposed as the love rat who got both Sharon and Louise pregnant, maybe the show will grab the long-awaited chance to introduce his estranged dad.
Keanu was just a baby when his dad was sent to prison for attacking Karen, but he's never actually been told the full truth about the situation.
Lorraine Stanley – who plays Karen – has been calling for EastEnders to introduce Keanu's violent father, but could bosses be waiting until the very last minute to play this card?
