Dr. Letitia Hubbard, NCSSM Instructor of Engineering and Mentorship, has been named a UNC System Faculty Fellow for 2022, a first for NCSSM.

Unicorn rides Falcon into space
On Sept. 15, Chris Sembroski ’97 became the second NCSSM graduate to reach space (Christina Koch ’97 was the first) when he rocketed into orbit from Kennedy Space Center. Along with three others, Sembroski rode inside the SpaceX Resilience capsule secured atop a Falcon 9 Block 5 launch vehicle -- on the first all-civilian spaceflight to orbit Earth.

NCSSM-Morganton receives major grant from Dogwood Health Trust
NCSSM-Morganton has received a $1 million grant from Dogwood Health Trust to provide capital and operating support for the school’s new Morganton campus opening in 2022, and expand access to STEM programming for students in grades 5-12 throughout Western North Carolina.
