Jamie Whincup has been awarded his third Barry Sheene Medal for best and fairest driver of 2021.

Whincup, who will make his final full-time start in Bathurst on Sunday, was announced as the prestigious award winner.

The award is voted by the sport’s key members of the media, and was awarded to Whincup after Saturday's ARMOR ALL Top Ten Shootout.

Whincup won the Barry Sheene Medal in 2007 and 2008.

Only Red Bull Ampol Racing driver Craig Lowndes has won the Barry Sheene Medal on more occasions with five.

Whincup’s accolade takes Triple Eight's 2021 awards haul to five.

The squad secured the teams’ championship trophy at the Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight.

Teammate Shane van Gisbergen also secured the 2021 drivers' title in Sydney.

The 2021 champion-elect received Drivers’ Driver and the Most Popular Driver honours on Friday.

Whincup enters his final race with 124 career wins, 237 podiums and 92 pole positions - the most in each of those categories in Supercars history.

The Shell V-Power Racing Team claimed the 2021 fan-voted Best Presented Team Award, the same award the team won in 2017 and 2018.

The Repco Bathurst 1000 will commence at 12:15pm AEDT on Sunday. Click here to view the track schedule.

Every session of the event will be broadcast live on Foxtel (Fox Sports 503) and streamed on Kayo.

The Seven Network will provide live free to air coverage of the event. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
