'LittleBigPlanet' levels top 7 million

How'd they get here? Over 5,000 levels per day, that's how

The seven millionth user-created LittleBigPlanet level was published to the game's servers last night, according to developer Media Molecule.

To celebrate the momentous occasion, the studio produced a comprehensive infographic featuring a timeline of the LittleBigPlanet franchise from the original game's unveiling at GDC 2007 through 2012, as well as a cornucopia of facts about the development of the series and the awards it has earned.

The timeline lists milestones including the original release of LittleBigPlanet in October 2008, nearly four years ago; the launch of the PSP version 11 months later; the creation of the LBP.me community portal in December 2010, one month before the release of LittleBigPlanet 2; and the upcoming 2012 launches of LittleBigPlanet PS Vita and LittleBigPlanet Karting.

Media Molecule also chronicled its million-level milestones. The quickest times of growth were the five-month periods between March 2011 and August 2011, and then between August 2011 and January 2012, with the count jumping by one million levels during each of those stretches.

The sundry facts and observations compiled in the image represent the signature winking charm of the LittleBigPlanet franchise. Perhaps our favorite note is that Media Molecule has received 346 emails to date from children under the age of 10 asking for a job. They've actually got a shot — the studio has hired 25 individuals from the community who are now working full-time on LittleBigPlanet at Media Molecule.
