This question about european American University was asked several time but NUC did not respond to this.So may be they are for people to invest most of their tangible resources on this University before they will started comming out with their stupid rules. We, the members of staff of Wesley University of Science and Technology, Ondo, hereby thanking and commending this ever-progressing body for the work you are carrying out on Nigerian universities. How you have been compelling them to meeting up with the standard of schools all over the world. I pray that God Almighty will impact on kyou knowledge, wisdom and understanding to do more.
Nevertheless, there are still some schools that are yet to conform to the rules and regulations of NUC. Example of such school is Wesley University of Science and Technology, Ondo. In terms of staff management and salary, they fail woefully. Below are some of the problems the members of staff are passing through.
Firstly, the salaries of the staff have not been paid for the last seven (7) months. This has led to non-performance by the staff. We are now the laughing stock of the community. We are languishing in poverty. We are seriously tired of this situation. They are only taking the advantage of unemployment to rob us of our entitlement. The management only embark on capital projects just to enrich their pocket. If there is no money where do they find money for the capital projects they do
Secondly, there is no form of any Labour Union in the university. They specifically designed this to be so, so there will not be any kind of protest. Anybody that dares them is a straight sack by the management. So, all the members of staff have been intimidated for so long, afraid of losing their jobs.
Thirdly, while other workers always receive their salaries at the end of each month, we do not have that privilege. It’s very sad.
Recommendations:
1. That the seven (7) months salary being owed be paid urgently as we are tired of this current situation.
2. That the management stop the act of intimidation. There should be active Labour Union in the university.
3. That the salary is always paid as at when due. No form of accumulated salary again.
4. That all form of capital projects be stopped until the salary of the staff are paid.
Whilst thanking you for the prompt and urgent action against this form of in-human and oppression, we pray that NUC is taking to the greater heights.
