The following story contains spoilers for The Book of Boba Fett's Season Finale, "In The Name Of Honor"
In the finale of the first (and perhaps only) season of The Book of Boba Fett, our titular hero pulls all the stops to get to the bottom of his conflict with the Pyke Syndicate. While he's taking on a powerful organized crime group (and their cunning, powerful bounty hunter Cad Bane), he gets not only the help of his previous allies Fennec Shand, Drash and her friends, The Mandalorian, Peli Motto, and Grogu, but also finds that Mando's work in with friend Cobb Vanth in Mos Pelgo (now known as Freetown) got him some extra muscle on the ground as well.
Much of that final episode is spent on a big battle, with the Pyke Syndicate sending a Scorpenek Annihilator Droid to do their dirty work, only for it to eventually be defeated by a combination of Grogu's abilities, Mando's skills with the Darksaber, and Boba riding a damn Rancor.
And near the end of the episode, Boba Fett promises Black Krrsantan a good soak in the Bacta Tank. And seeing earlier in the series how well that tank nursed Boba back to health (after he looked pale and scarred in his Mandalorian Season 2 appearance), we know those things are heavy duty.
But at the end of the episode, we hear Boba say that the Bacta Tank is in use. And when we just start to think that he's making good on his promise to Krrsantan, then we see Krrsantan right on the streets of Mos Espa with them. So, uh, who's using the Bacta Tank? In the post-credits scene, we find out.
Cobb Vanth (Timothy Olyphant) Was in the Bacta Tank in The Book of Boba Fett's Post-Credits Scene.
The last time we saw Cobb Vanth—played by frequent Western-adjacent badass Timothy Olyphant (known for roles in Deadwood and Justified among many others)—he was single-handedly stopping the Spice trade in Freetown. Well, he was, before he lost an old-fashioned quick-draw shootout with that pesky blue bounty hunter Cad Bane. After Cobb is shot, he gets quickly tended to by fellow Freetowners, but it's not looking good.
Midway through the finale we hear an update on Vanth—he got gunned down in cold blood. We don't hear definitively one way or the other, but we're definitely being led to believe that Cobb Vanth is no more.
That is...until the post-credits scene of The Book of Boba Fett's finale, when we see Cobb resting comfortably in the Bacta Tank. Remember that it was in this very tank that Boba Fett remembered his own history—escaping the Sarlacc pit, linking up with the Tusken Raiders, saving Fennec Shand—and now Cobb is taking his spot as he returns to health.
Clearly, the Star Wars universe is making the bright choice to keep Timothy Olyphant around. But what's next for him? Time will tell, but it certainly seems possible that Cobb Vanth could soon be at the center of a spinoff of his own.
The Modfier—who previously saved Fennec Shand's life—was there to save Cobb, and maybe give him some upgrades too.
Also worth noting? Not only was Cobb Vanth being nursed back to health in the Bacta Tank, but Boba Fett seemingly got him the hook up with the Modifier, played again by the talented musician Thundercat. It's possible that Cobb needed some mechanical parts in him to return to health (like Fennec did), and it's also possible that Boba is getting Cobb some upgrades of his own (like Drash and her friends did). Either way, when we see Cobb Vanth again, he won't quite be the same Marshal we saw facing off with Cad Bane.
