Sporting Kansas City have expanded their partnership with Compass Minerals in a deal that will see the company serve as the club’s main shirt partner for the next seven seasons.

The minerals producer was previously the Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise’s sleeve sponsor but the new deal will see its logo displayed on the front of all Sporting KC jerseys from the 2022 season until the end of 2028.

The deal ensures that Compass Minerals will also continue to hold the naming rights to the club’s training facility, which is known as the Compass Minerals National Performance Center, as well as the nearby youth soccer complex.

As the club’s official plant nutrition and salt provider, Compass Minerals also supplies products that contribute to the upkeep of the playing surface at Sporting KC’s Children’s Mercy Park.

Jake Reid (pictured above, right), Sporting KC’s president and chief executive, described the growth of the partnership as “an incredible success story for both of our businesses.

Sporting KC have been on the hunt for a long-term front-of-shirt sponsor since Ivy Investments announced in 2019 that it would relinquish the inventory at the end of the 2020 season, concluding a partnership that started in 2013.

Last season, the team’s shirts advertised The Victory Project, a philanthropic foundation set up by Sporting KC in 2013 to support children battling cancer.

Sporting KC will wear their Compass Minerals-branded shirts in MLS for the first time in their season-opener at Atlanta United on 27th February.
