Agartala, Mar 07 (FD) Eminent Gynecologist of Tripura Dr. Ela Lodh has been selected for Nari Shakti Puraskar- 2020 (posthumously) for her exceptional contributions towards women's empowerment.

The prestigious award will be presented by the President of India in a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi on March 8 next on the occasion of International Women's Day. The award carries a certificate and a cash amount of Rupees Two Lakh.

On behalf of Ela Lodh, her son Debanjan Lodh will receive the award.

Dr. Rakesh Gupta, joint secretary of the Ministry of Child and Women development, informed this in a letter addressed to Debanjan Lodh.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development confers Nari Shakti Puraskar every year to individuals and institutions in recognition of their service towards the cause of women empowerment, especially vulnerable and marginalized women. FD
