Svante Stockselius, supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of the European Broadcasting Union, is satisfied with the preparations. He said that during yesterday's press conference.

During the press conference, Stockselius introduced Steve De Coninck-De Boeck, the newly elected head of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest steering group.

Cyprus' decision to withdraw
In a conversation with esctoday.com, Stockselius explained CyBC's decision to withdraw a bit more: “The Cypriot broadcaster had a problem with the song, which we (the EBU, red.) considered as an internal affair. The only thing we ask them for is an original song that applies to the rules. After internal discussions, CyBC decided to withdraw, to avoid problems in the future. A decision we regret ánd respect at the end”.

Svante Stockselius also explained the decision to give the Cypriot audience the chance to televote: “We do not want to 'punish' the Cypriot audience with this situation. Therefor, we decided to allow Cyprus in the televoting”.

2006 in Romania
The preparations for the 2006 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Romania will start after the 2005 edition. Stockselius also explained the decision was partly based on geographical aspects. “Romanian broadcaster TVR came up with a good plan ánd we took into account that after Denmark, Norway and Belgium, we also had to look at the geographical dispersal of the participating countries”.
