Some weeks ago, the Junior Eurovision Song Contest was a top news item in Croatia. Alhough it's an official EBU rule, HRT didn't broadcast the competition (and hold a televoting) on a main national channel. HTV chairman Maria Nemcic now reacted on the accusations a published on eurovision-croatia.com. Faced with a fine or expulsion from the 2007 event, it appears that HRT has decided to withdraw.

According to Jutarnji press, HRT will withdraw from 2007 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The reasons published are that it is expensive and becausethe show takes placeduring prime time,at 20:00. they will think about to have a conversation with paritcipants and ex paritcipants to move live show in some other time of day, for exapmple in 17:00h. Prime Time television is sold to advertisers as family or adult viewing. Children's television is traditionally in mid-afternoon or early mornings at weekends.

Maria Nemcic thinks thatSaturday night is not the besttime to show a children's program and she claims that there was noofficial warning about that. She claims also that HRT has sent a proposition to EBU, in which they asked to compete but not to show the event live. If there is no positiveanswer, they will withdraw from competition. She also claims that for the same reason some other countries like France, United Kingdom and Germany have withdrawn.

Actually, Germany has never competed in the contest and it is said that France and the United Kingdom have withdrawn for other reasons.
