Actress/Activist to appear in new Advertising Campaign

Monica Rich Kosann will launch a new advertising campaign for Fall 2011 featuring Mia Kirshner, the actress known for her art and activism. The new campaign “MY STYLE – MY STORY” celebrates a woman’s individuality through the Storytelling lens that is a hallmark of Kosann’s jewelry collection.

Photographer/ Designer Monica Rich Kosann noted, “We are excited to have a personality like Mia Kirshner associated with our brand. She has the classic beauty and style we try to bring to every piece in our collection.”

Kosann, who is also a fine art portrait photographer, shot all the photography for the campaign at THE PIERRE HOTEL in New York City. Advertisements are scheduled this Fall in T MAGAZINE, TOWN & COUNTRY, HARPERS BAZAAR and other luxury publications.

Monica Rich Kosann’s eponymous jewelry and home collection offers modern heirlooms that maintain a sense of fashion and timeless style, rooted in the concept that every woman has a story to tell. Known for 18-karat gold and sterling silver lockets, charm bracelets, accessory jewelry and image cases, the brand strives to help customers celebrate their most cherished memories through their personal style.

Monica’s roots are in fine art portrait photography. She uses black & white film and darkroom techniques that are wholly unique in our digital age. The personal nature and heirloom quality of her portraits formed her interest in jewelry design. Six years ago, she started creating lockets and charm bracelets, inspired by vintage objets d'art of the 1920s and '30s.

The collection is sold in the brand’s signature shop on the 7th floor of Bergdorf Goodman and over one hundred fine jewelers and specialty stores including: Neiman-Marcus, Richard’s and Mitchell’s. Monica Rich Kosann is also a published author of two lifestyle books, The Fine Art of Family and Living With What You Love, and has been featured in magazines and on television. She was awarded the FGI Rising Star Award for Fine Jewelry in 2010 and was also recently inducted into the CFDA.

About Mia Kirshner: Born in Toronto, Canada, Mia Kirshner came from a family of Holocaust survivors; her journalist father was born in a displaced camp in Germany and her mother was a Bulgarian-Jewish refugee. Kirshner studied Russian literature at McGill University in Montreal while pursuing an acting career in the early 1990s. Kirshner appeared in Deny Arcand¹s Love and Human Remains before her memorable turn in Atom Egoyan's Exotica. In 1995, she had a supporting role in the Southern coming-of-age tale, The Grass Harp, starring Sissy Spacek and Walter Matthau and played the lead opposite Vincent Perez in The Crow: City of Angels (1996). She appeared as a professional assassin in the action-filled drama, "24" starring Kiefer Sutherland and was later cast in the critically acclaimed series "The L Word," where she played a twenty-something writer, Jenny Schecter. She starred in Brian De Palma's The Black Dahlia, alongside Josh Hartnett, Aaron Eckhart, Scarlett Johansson and Hilary Swank."

Kirshner has co-written a book, I Live Here, Published by Pantheon Books, which is a four-volume anthology detailing the lives of refugees and displaced people focusing on hidden stories. Kirshner traveled and collected stories from Ingushetia (on the border of Chechnya), Burma, Juarez (Mexico) and Malawi. She has also founded I Live Here Projects, which runs a full time school in Kachere Juvenile Prison, located in Lilongwe Malawi.
