After the men kicked off the European international summer this past weekend, it is now the turn of the women as France play host to Austria, Jersey and Spain, the latter of whom are playing their first ever international matches.

The day opened with the hosts taking on Jersey, the latter choosing to bowl first after Chloe Greechan won the toss. And it was Greechan who was the pick of the Jersey bowling attack, taking 2-13 as they were able to restrict the home side to 87-5 from their 20 overs.

Maria Da Rocha and Charlie Miles opened the Jersey reply and put on 42 in the first six overs before Da Rocha was out for 20. Miles finished unbeaten on 39 as her team won by 7 wickets in 12.3 overs.

Austria, who are missing reigning ICC Women's Associate Player of the Year Andrea-Mae Zepeda who is participating in the ongoing Fairbreak Invitational T20 league, took on Spain in the afternoon. Batting first after they won the toss, Austria scored 127-7 from their 20 overs, though the biggest contribution came from the 47 extras conceded by Spain.

Jo-Antoinette Stiglitz had the next highest score for Austria with 29, whilst Rabia Iqbal took 3-25 for Spain.

Spain's reply of 90 also saw extras be the biggest contribution with Austria conceding 40 of them. Mahadewa Pathirannehelage took 5-16, the first five wicket haul for Austria in women's T20Is, to help secure the 37 run win.

The tournament continues tomorrow with Jersey playing twice. They will play Spain in the morning and Austria in the afternoon.
