I have the pink version which I believe was released only in 1000 copies (there were more copies but with different colours).
Do you also have an error on the cover with incorrent original release year corrected with a pen? :) I'll add some photos soon.

My suspicion is that there were more copies pressed than the stated 1000. I preordered mine online but even now I see it widely available online, several copies are for sale in the discog's marketplace, it's often for sale on eBay and even my local record store in Tennessee has a couple of copies for sale. Hard to imagine for such a "rare" recording by an artist with such a large global fanbase. As for master tapes, these are probably not the first generation masters but probably sourced from a mix down mono production dupe used for the film. Good music, though, with the same instrument setup as used for L'Apocalypse des Animaux.

Sad, atmospheric soundtrack of the art house film about adventures of the French journalist in Venice of the early 70s and his love affair with the beautiful and easy-going girl who symbolizes Venice. You nearly feel its smells, fogs, waves, atmospheres, ambience while listening to this music from Amore. Music will remind of another work by Vangelis - L'Apocalypse Des Animaux. Impressive ambiental track "Venezia" opens the album. In the next tracks you will hear variations on the main theme with a touch Italian folk and Baroque music influences.
Sad that the record is mono and original tapes are not in best condition for mastering but it's good addition to discography of Maestro Vangelis.

Is there a way to change the listing for this album so that it will alphabetize it correctly in my Discogs collection? Other Vangelis albums are listed under "V" which makes sense... For some reason this one is listing him under "E" for "Evangelos Papathanassiou." Even though his name appears "Vangelis Papathanassiou" on the cover. I don't think he's ever gone by "Evangelos" on any of his albums. I know it's a nitpicky thing, but I'm kind of obsessive when it comes to organizing and it's bugging me that this album isn't listed with the other Vangelis albums in my collection...

This is indeed mono, when copied to my PC via a stereo line in, it gives the feeling of a fake stereo image. The right channel is louder, clearer and pretty much free of noise and pops, so I have down mixed my digital copy to right channel mono.

I seemed to pick up a solid pink copy and then a translucent pink copy.

The copies that I have in stock of this title are on YELLOW vinyl; not pink. Were there several color variations of this album other than pink (and, obviously, yellow), or were there more than one pressing of this title? I would doubt that there has been a second pressing of this title, but I certainly could be wrong. Can anyone shed some light on this matter?

Hefty price tag for a single LP new release, however nice presentation and excellent sound quality compensates enough to make this "lost" soundtrack a recommended purchase for Vangelis fans.

Monster Melodies Records releases officialy the original soundtrack of Amore, a film by Henry Chapier, composed and performed by Vangelis.

An unreleased recording dating from July 1973, which had been lost until now. A coloured vinyl, packaged in a luxury sleeve, it includes unpublished photos, the film poster and a postcard.

In 1974, Henry Chapier after several atypical movie, "An American Summer" (1968) Sex-Power (1970) and "Hi, Jerusalem" (1972), directed the film "Amore": "Amore is a fiction film.

“This is happening in a city constantly threatened with death. At the time, I thought, there were a lot of documentaries and that I would do it differently. I imagined Venice in the guise of a heroine, a very beautiful woman, Sonia Petrovna (actress known for her roles in Ludwig - Twilight of the Gods in 1972 Luchino Visconti and Professor Valerio Zurlini 1972), a girl of the Venetian aristocracy ailing, who no longer has the means to maintain its palaces, representing a page of history that has passed.
But the fact remains that in the frame, in the subject, there was a little journalistic approach. Also because one of the actors, Daniel Quenaud, was presumed to be a reporter, sent to consider the merits of an architectural plan which would save Venice. So in the agreement, there is a slight journalist contamination. Otherwise there was also a love story, love around Sonia, love for Venice. I think it's more of a fiction film than a documentary nonetheless”.

Henry Chapier meets Vangelis on 9th February 1970: "Vangelis Papathanassiou was the composer of the group Aphrodite's Child, he composed the band's music and the songs of Demis Roussos.

“The first time, it was at the Olympia, at the band’s concert. I found the music to be trippy and wonderful, I, who above all, loved the Pink Floyd. I thought the Pink Floyd, I could never get them for my films. So I stormed in backstage at the Olympia, I said to Vangelis: “Listen you are made to be an independent composer”. Things clicked between us instantly and so I asked if he wanted the script. He told me “no, we will see, me, I improvise from images”. This is a technique that is practiced today, but back then, it was unheard of. We did not have people like him, who recorded the sound on sixteen tracks, playing all the instruments themselves and who already had in mind how hey would edit the soundtrack. The sound always interested me enormously. After Vangelis made the music for my films, he made the soundtrack for Frederic Rossif’s films, but thereafter he became famous from the soundtrack of the Chariots of Fire. At the Cannes Festival, his music had really been noticed and acclaimed. Often on the Internet, people ask me for the film’s soundtrack before even asking me how they can get the images”.
