Zombies 3 release date, cast and everything you need to know

Zeddison forever.

Zombies 3 finally has a release date and the good news for fans is that the threequel is coming to Disney+ very soon.

The bad news is that when the movie was officially confirmed in March 2021, Disney revealed that it would be the final movie of the series. At least we'll get to see how it all ends in July in our final visit to Seabrook.

Zombies 3 will bring back Meg Donnelly and Milo Manheim as Seabrook's star-crossed zombie/cheerleader couple Zed and Addison. Behind the scenes, director Paul Hoen and writers David Light and Joseph Raso are also returning for the final movie.

"After the enormous success of Zombies 2, we wanted to raise the stakes in this third and final instalment," said Lauren Kisilevsky, vice president, Original Movies, Disney Branded Television.

"So when the ultimate outsiders descend on Seabrook, our team of cheerleaders, zombies and werewolves must band together to face a threat of galactic proportions that may change the face of Seabrook forever."

Now that we have a release date for Zombies 3, here's everything you need to know about the final instalment in the popular franchise.

Zombies 3 release date: When can we expect Zombies 3 to be released?

In a change to the previous movies, Zombies 3 will be premiering exclusively on Disney+ worldwide on July 15, 2022.

The threequel will then make its Disney Channel debut in the US on Friday, August 12 at 8pm ET/PT with a special encore premiere, featuring a brand new "lost song" musical number and additional bonus footage.

The July release date is a change from the previous two movies, which both premiered around Valentine's Day in February 2018 and February 2020, respectively, on the Disney Channel.

Zombies 3 plot: How does Zombies 2 ending set it up?

With Seabrook High's Prawn around the corner, Zed and Addison's young love appeared to be in doubt after he stole a necklace that Addison thought would reveal her true self as a werewolf.

However, this being a Disney movie, it all worked out in the end after Zed apologised and realised he was being a bit of a dick towards the werewolves. Teaming up with the werewolves, the zombies gatecrash the Prawn and Zed apologises to Addison.

"I thought everything would make sense if I was a werewolf, but I'm not and I don't even know if I'm a cheerleader," Addison tells Zed, who replies: "You're a leader, Addison. You bring people together."

And then they kiss and make up. Awww.

That's not the end of Zombies 2 though as later that night a mysterious meteorite crashes in Seabrook, causing Addison's radio to turn on and wake her up. "Weird," she says as her hair starts glowing bright blue...

Hang on, could Addison actually be an alien? The official synopsis for the third movie confirms that there's an alien twist in store as Zed and Addison begin their final year at Seabrook High:

"Zed is anticipating an athletic scholarship that will make him the first Zombie to attend college, while Addison is gearing up for Seabrook's first international cheer-off competition," it reads.

"Then suddenly, extraterrestrial beings appear around Seabrook, provoking something other than friendly competition."

It's been confirmed that the third movie will feature eight new musical numbers, including opening track 'Alien Invasion', new songs for Zed and Addison (including a third rendition of 'Someday') and 'Come On Out'.

The digital soundtrack will be available from July 15, the same day as the movie's Disney+ debut.

Zombies 3 cast: Who's coming back for Zombies 3?

It wouldn't be a Zombies movie without Milo Manheim and Meg Donnelly as Zed and Addison, and they're both back for the third movie.

We'll also see the return of Trevor Tordjman as Bucky, Chandler Kinney as Willa, Kingston Foster as Zoey, Carla Jeffery as Bree, Ariel Martin as Wynter, Pearce Joza as Wyatt and Kylee Russell as Eliza.

Newcomers include Terry Hu as A-spen, Matt Cornett as A-lan, Kyra Tantao as A-li and James Godfrey as Bonzo.

The really big star making their Zombies debut though is none other than RuPaul as the voice of "The Mothership, a passive-aggressive UFO that brings the aliens to Earth in the new movie.
