The spirit of Filipino ingenuity, courage and perseverance were on full display last June 10 at the launching of PLDT SME Nation "Bossing Ako" campaign held at the NBC Tent at The Fort in Taguig City.
Giving life to the event were 12 successful entrepreneurs belonging to different fields and industries.
Entrepreneurs who were present that evening to represent their respective ventures were Cristalle Henares (Belo Medical Group), Ronald Pineda (Folded & Hung), Jay Aldeguer (Island Souvenirs), Joey Concepcion (RFM and Joey Pepperoni), Raphael and Jenni Soon (North Park), Carlo Hizon (Pampanga's Best), Gardy Cruz (Pansit Malabon Express), Lily Monteverde and Roselle Monteverde-Teo (Regal Entertainment), Les Reyes (Reyes Haircutters), Louie and Dulzzi Gutierrez (Silverworks), Benjamin Liuson (The Generics Pharmacy) and PLDT Chairman Manny Pangilinan (Burger King).
The objective of the campaign is to encourage individuals to represent the new generation of entrepreneurs by putting up their own small to medium scale ventures, guided by traditional business approach mixed with modern technological tools.
"We are on a nationwide campaign to encourage a new generation of Filipino entrepreneurs. The Philippines needs more entrepreneurs in order to ensure our economic future. As we move forward into the 21st century, we'll need more SMEs to provide more jobs, more income and more purchasing power," said the brand's vice president Kat Luna-Abelarde.
After the official presentation and wine toasting ceremony, rock musicians Rico Blanco and Arnel Pineda of the legendary American band Journey took turns entertaining the large crowd with memorable rock numbers.
Arnel and Rico also performed the campaign theme song titled "Para Sa Mga Bossing." The video of the said jingle was also played for the first time that evening.
"In the general sense it's something I believed in also na 'yong destiny mo is really in your own hands," said Rico after his performance. "So 'yong campaign na ito is not very different from my personal beliefs, it's exactly the same, so 'yon 'yong inspiration ko going into this project."
