Why did Casper Leave Cross Gene: The Speculated Reasons
September 1, 2017 was a sad day for Cross Gene fans. On that day, Amuse Korea Entertainment released the official statement about Casper leaving the group. The translation is as follows:
To all the fans who have been kindly supporting CROSS GENE,
We are very sorry to inform all the fans, who have been kindly supporting Cross Gene, very abruptly. Cross Gene’s member Casper ( Chu Xiao Xiang ) has graduated from ( left ) Cross Gene as of August 31, 2017.
We have gone through negotiations until today. However, as the goals that he aimed, and his way of thinking were different, the result turned out to be like this due to his strong wish.
We are terribly sorry to inform all the fans who have been regularly supporting Cross Gene, but from now on, Cross Gene will make a fresh start as 5 members, and they will even put greater effort to be able to make a comeback as soon as possible. For this reason, we are expecting your continuous support for them.

After the official statement was released, Casper posted a picture of these hands with a caption saying I’m Sorry in English, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese on his Weibo account.
Cross Gene fans were saddened by the news of Casper’s departure, especially since the news was released just before Cross Gene’s scheduled comeback. Even though it was stated that the reason Casper left the group was because of his different goals and ways of thinking, no one knows why it was so sudden. Whatever the real reason is, it must have been the best choice for both parties.
Casper’s Appearance on KBS The Unit
In October of 2017, not long after his departure from Cross Gene, it was revealed that Casper would be one of the participants in KBS’ idol-rebooting show called The Unit. Unfortunately, he was eliminated from the show on the second elimination round, but he has gained a lot of attention for his skills despite this.
