Tomm Moore: Kilkenny is a small city with a huge heart

“You can walk the medieval streets and travel back in time in your imagination to when it was a bustling market town in the Middle Ages,” says Tomm Moore, the co-founder of Cartoon Saloon and Oscar-nominated director, of his home city, Kilkenny.

He says Kilkenny is a small city with a huge heart. “I grew up here and, over the years, it’s got better and better, with such a strong cultural element, from music to theatre, to visual arts and crafts. What’s nicest, though, is that even though it has huge numbers of visitors at certain times of the year, there are still evenings where it’s quiet and cosy.”
