Pen Marudhar, the distribution arm of Pen Studios, which was behind recent blockbusters like RRR, Vikram and Sita Ramam, will distribute Mani Ratnam's PS-I Hindi in the northern territories of India.

A two-part franchise, Ponniyin Selvan is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's eponymous epic set in the rise of the Chola dynasty. The first instalment, PS-1, stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayram Ravi, Karthi and others. It is releasing theatrically on September 30, 2022.

Dr Jayantilal Gada, CM & MD of Pen Studios, said in a statement,  "PS-1 like 'RRR' is an event film mounted on a huge scale, these films are meant for the theater viewing experience and we are glad to be a part of this. We take pride in making this a larger release so it reaches more viewers who love our cinema."

Speaking about the collaboration producer Ashish Singh, CEO, Lyca Productions, said, “We are super excited to be associated with Pen Marudhar for the North India distribution of PS-1. In Pen Marudhar, we have an experienced partner that is aligned with our vision and approach of taking our magnum opus PS-1 to the North India territories.
