Wild Hunt is due for release on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on May 19 and will include 16 free DLC packages across all three platforms.

The Witcher 3 is described as a story-driven, open world role-playing game, set in a fantasy universe full of meaningful choices and impactful consequences.

And as its release date draws closer Monnier decided to hit Twitter and answer some fan questions, including new details, on what to expect from the third instalment.

Reacting to one tweet, Monnier revealed his regard for the Dark Souls combat system and why it had become a big influence for the Wild Hunt.

'What do you, as a game designer, think of the Dark Souls combat system? Would it work with the Witcher?'

He wrote: "I love it, ours is similar in fact. Responsive, fast. Big influence for sure."

'Is it possible to customise or upgrade Gerald's armour-sets with different colours or materials?'

Monnier replied: "sets are, for the lack of better word, set. However they come in tiers. The 3 best armors in the game have 5 tiers each."

'What can I expect, if I travel with a boat? Will there be creatures in the water and can I fight them?'

He tweeted: "yes and yes and then storms will come and then you cry a little bit. Also boat is destructible so rocks are bad…"

'How long is the game?'

Monnier revealed: "Hard to say, if you do everything I d say 200+ hours."

I read all DLC for Witcher 3 will be free. Does that mean it's going to be more cosmetic?

The designer wrote: "There will be quests too so not small at all."
