I looked at a lot of things on amazon to hold deliveries. I have a covered porch so rain not much of a problem. I don't sit there, although that wouldn't be a deal breaker but all of the storage benches didn't hold enough. Many of the boxes were too long to fit on the porch. I needed something less than 36 inches long but big enough to hold larger boxes or several Amazon Fresh deliveries. That is assuming UPS, FedEx or even Amazon will use this box. I have had problems with stolen packages and have two thieves on security cam. But of course, the authorities do nothing about it but tell you to bring your mail in right away. That's fine if you're home but I needed a solution for when I am not. My USPS carrier *will* use the box as we have discussed the theft problem before and I'm not the only one.
The box arrived at11:50 and I had it assembled by 1pm all by myself. Minimal tools needed but I did need a screwdriver and either a socket wrench or an open end wrench. All parts were included (plus one extra screw and I appreciate that.) The directions were clear and it went together easily. While they do recommend two people I put it together alone quite easily. The design and construction seems quite sturdy and adequate to my purpose. While I wouldn't sit on it I imagine you could as long as you don't weigh to much. Since this will sit on my porch I also spray painted it to match my house, so construction was actually less than an hour as the remainder of the 70 min. was spent spray painting the top front and both sides.
Once the paint is dry I will be attaching labels to direct USPS, FedEx, UPS and Amazon to place deliveries in the box. I will also be adding labels warning that mail theft is a Federal Felony resulting in up to 5 years in prison and $250,000 fines. Plus a warning that they should smile as they are on security cams. Will it stop them? No. You can never stop them, just slow them down. There is a loop on the front to padlock the lid and box together but it would be easy to cut through the plastic so I don't consider this a secure solution. It is mostly to get deliveries out of sight and to further warn them about theft, should they be caught. For that purpose, this is perfect.
I plan to put insulation around the sides and top so that if amazon fresh delivers, groceries will be insulated at least somewhat.

How hard is it to design a deck box that holds your stuff? I thought I was getting something that was foolproof and pretty much "figured out" at this point, and based on the brand name Rubbermaid and the positive reviews this felt like a no brainer - however this thing is literally useless as designed and I don't see how anyone can make it work or how the firm that designed it could have released it as is. Quite literally, the box touts 69% fewer parts, but the parts that remain do not attach and connect in a way that actually holds this thing together. It's pretty simple that if you are going to build a deck box it needs to hold stuff without bowing apart. To describe what's happening, each side "folds in" and meet in the middle, and are locked in place with three bent pieces of steel. However, that bottom piece of bent pieces of steel don't connect to the bottom piece of the box, so the sides just bow out. I tried everything I could to get them to lock in and stay, but they won't and there isn't even enough steel there to catch and hold it in place anyway. I know that as soon as ai put stuff in here, it will just get worse, and have no confidence the bottom piece would even remain intact because it's only held onto the sides with these flimsy grooves of plastic. I don't normally write reviews, but this warrants one because it's an embarrassment to the folks that considered it good enough to ship to customers. Don't waste your time.
