Rishi takes to the world stage as he receives calls from Biden and Zelensky

Rishi Sunak (pictured left) stepped up to the international stage last night taking calls from world leaders as he laid down the foundations for his premiership. Hours after his cabinet reshuffle, Mr Sunak took a call from US president Joe Biden (inset above) and discussed the war in Ukraine, as the US President called the UK his country's 'closest ally'. This was despite the president earlier mispronouncing the PM's name as 'Rashee Sanook' in his congratulatory speech. The new Prime Minister will meet Joe Biden in the coming weeks at the G20 summit in Indonesia. The PM also spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (pictured right) and pledged the UK would continue to provide support as it defends itself from Russian aggression. Zelensky in turn invited Sunak to visit Ukraine. Yesterday, the PM also received congratulatory messages from other world leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron (below inset), German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Five people have been left stranded 21 stories underground at the Grand Canyon Caverns' tourist attraction, in Peach Springs, Arizona, for almost 24 hours. The elevator reportedly malfunctioned Sunday evening, according to authorities on Monday night.
