Our client was driving home with friends when the Police pulled him over. It was alleged that an offence had been committed, even though there was no basis to suggest this. JG was arrested and put in the back of a police van. On the way to the police station, the door of the police van was unsecured which allowed him to escape from the van. The police commenced charges against the client which were dismissed in the Local Court on the basis that the police had carried out an unlawful arrest.
