The name of Eren's final monstrous form from Attack on Titan has finally been confirmed.
In a post on the franchise's official Twitter, it was revealed the skeletal abomination, which is a combination of the Attack Titan, the Founding Titan and the War Hammer Titan, is called Shubi no Kyojin (roughly translated to the Final Titan). The name comes directly from series creator Hajime Isayama himself. Also included was the cover art for the upcoming Blu-ray and DVD release of Attack on Titan: The Final Season - Part 2. The image shows Mikasa and Armin staring down a child-version of Eren in front of the tree of Paths with the Final Titan looming menacingly above their heads.
Isayama's Attack on Titan manga was serialized in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine from 2009 to 2021. Alongside Eiichiro Oda's One Piece and Koyoharu Gotouge's Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, it is one of the best-selling manga of all time with more than 100 million copies in circulation globally. Set in a post-apocalyptic world where humanity cowers and hides from enormous, humanoid monsters in walled cities, the narrative details the journey of Eren, a young man who wishes to kill all Titans they decimate his hometown and kill his mother. While earlier on in the story he is presented as a hero (albeit a very angry and aggressive one), the brutal events of the story eventually mold him into humanity's ultimate enemy.
Wit Studio (Ranking of Kings) produced the first seasons of the Attack on Titan anime with MAPPA (Jujutsu Kaisen) taking over for the fourth and final season, which has been split into several parts. Attack on Titan: The Final Season - Part 3 is expected to debut sometime in 2023 and will adapt the final nine chapters of Isayama's story.
Apart from the home video releases of Attack on Titan: The Final Season - Part 2 and the future release of Part 3, the "Attack on Titan Final Season SPECIAL EVENT 2022" was recently announced to celebrate the release of the show's final season. Set to kick off on Nov. 13, the event features an orchestral concert showcasing the music of series composer Kohta Yamamoto. The event will also include a voice actors panel with confirmed appearances by Yuki Kaji (Eren), Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa), Marina Inoue (Armin), Kisho Taniyama (Jean) and Ayane Sakura (Gabi).
The final chapter of Isayama's Attack on Titan manga was released in 2021, which garnered divisive responses from the franchise's fanbase. However, the anime continues to be extremely popular worldwide with The Final Season - Part 2 named by Parrot Analytics as the most in-demand anime of 2021.
