    Vice-President Krishan Kant dies of massive heart attack

    Vice-President Krishan Kant, who rose to prominence as a young turk in Congress during Indira Gandhi's time, died of a massive heart attack on Saturday.

    NEW DELHI: Vice President Krishan Kant, who rose to prominence as a young turk in Congress during Indira Gandhi''s time, died of a massive heart attack on Saturday.
    Seventy-five-year old Kant, who became Vice President in 1997 during United Front rule, complained of severe chest pain and was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences at 0738 hours here and was declared dead at 0845 hours, AIIMS Medical Superintendent R Sarma said.
    Kant was one of the quartet along with former Prime Minister Chandrasekhar, Mohan Dharia and Ram Dhan who formed the ginger group in Congress that was arrested on the mid-night of June 25, 1975 when Gandhi imposed emergency.
