ariah Carey fans are slightly concerned about their idol after she barely moved a muscle during her very static performance at the American Music Awards.

The pop superstar decided to stay firmly rooted to the spot as she performed her comeback single, With You, on Tuesday night, which got viewers talking.

Carey wore a red satin gown with a flowing train for the performance, while a number of half-naked men danced around her.

While some fans seemed worried that Carey was unwell, others dubbed the odd performance “lazy”, following a series of energetic displays from the likes of Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa.

“Mariah Carey not moving her entire performance as shirtless men dance around her is the level of unbothered I aspire to achieve,” one person wrote on Twitter.

Another wrote: “How is Mariah not moving one inch of her body except that hand #AmericanMusicAwards2018.”

“Mariah is really committed to not moving during performances. #AMAs,” posted another.

“She used to at least meander from one side of the stage to the other. Now she’s limited to one-arm choreography. #AMAs #MobilityIsYourFriend,” tweeted one confused fan.

Carey was even accused by some of lip-syncing, although many die-hard fans attempted to shoot down the speculation.

Carey recently cancelled her upcoming tour dates in Australia and New Zealand due to “scheduling conflicts”, leaving many fans disappointed.

Swift was the big winner at this year’s awards ceremony, becoming the most decorated female artist in AMAs history with 23 gongs, overtaking Whitney Houston’s 21.
