WUSO DJs and Executive Staff members (l-r) Krissie Wells and Shiloh Aderhold, both juniors, relax in the WUSO studio after a recent training session. The station plans to be online within the next week.

Wittenberg University's radio station, WUSO 89.1 FM, will be blasting the university with some new changes this school year - the most exciting being the online feature that the station hopes will be up and running by the middle of September.

The music, sports and news that radiate from WUSO will now be able to be heard by anybody who has a computer and internet access. This new "listen live" section of WUSO is much anticipated by students.

"I love WUSO, and I'm so excited that now when I go home for a break, I will still be able to hear my favorite station!" a freshman commented in the CDR.

In addition to breaking into the internet radio field, WUSO is breaking into more sports than ever. WUSO will not only cover the entire football and basketball schedules, but will now cover volleyball, softball, and baseball as well. The station is even considering broadcasting soccer, even as an internet-only broadcast. Basically, whatever students want to hear regarding sports will be available.

WUSO's first general staff meeting was Monday, September 4 at 6:00 pm. An impressive 50-60 people showed an interest in helping with the radio station. Hopeful DJs filled out applications and signed contracts. Also discussed was the fact that music reviewers were needed. Music reviewers will review new music and decide whether it will be played on WUSO or not.

Elections for next year's executive staff will be held at the end of November. One of the open positions will be General Manager. This position involves running the station by getting maintenance work done, keeping the rest of the executive staff on task, and working with administration. Treasurer, promotions manager, progressive and metal CD reviewers, and a programming manager are also executive positions open for elections at the end of November.

Three training sessions were held for those who want to be a DJ. These training sessions taught not only the brand new DJs how to work the CD players and other equipment, but taught the experienced DJs how to work new equipment in the station.
Everyone who wants a show will get one, as long as the times they want to have their show work out with the schedule. Priority will be given to those who have the most experience at WUSO.

The station plays mostly rock and progressive music, but students decide what music they play during their own program. Many students also incorporate talk shows and news into their programs.

Anybody interested in becoming a DJ on WUSO is encouraged to visit wuso.org for more information. Under "How to be a DJ," there is an application and contract that must be filled out. If your show has more than one member, only one application is needed. A separate contract must be signed for each member.

The executive staff at WUSO encourages everyone to check out the website for an updated schedule of sports and music, but most of all the new listen live feature.

Any questions or comments regarding WUSO should be addressed to wuso891@gmail.com or Brian Cataldi, General Manager of WUSO.
