The Child's Mother declared, that she found some Signs upon the Childs Body, and went to a Neighbour to ask her Advice; who told her she was afraid some Man had meddled with her: Asking her Daughter, she told her that the Prisoner would have lain with her twice; the Child declared, that the Prisoner threw her upon the Bed, but could not enter her Body; and gave her a Counter, and told her that it was a half Guinea; and that he would have done it another time, but her Father knocking he let her go. The Prisoner denied the Fact, saying, that he never offered any such thing to the Child in all his Life; but said, that he had tickled and toyed with her, but that did not avail him, the Jury found him Guilty .
