Wei- State Native Buys KMYO For $500,000 Radio Station KMYO AM and FM at Little Rock and KEKS-AM at Lake Charles, La., were transferred by the Federal Com munications Commission Thurs day to Dynamic Productions Inc. of Los Angeles, a.radio and television commercial produc tion firm wholly owned by Cliff B. Ford of Little Rock. Ford, who has been general manager of the two stations, said the purchase price was $500,000. Both stations formerly.. were owned by Victor Broadcasting Company, headed .‘by Victor Muscat, 53, of Greenwich, Ct.. and La Jolla, Cal. Muscat also owns Victor Metals Products of Newport, which manufactures most of the collapsible metal tubing used in packaging tooth paste in the United States. Of fices for the firm recently were moved to Cincinnati.' - Muscat formerly owned other planja at Newport and at-Eu reka Springs. He also had .owned a television construction permit for UEEF Channel ,16 at little Rock, plus others at Memphis, Tulsa and New Haven.. Ct., but he. recently relinquished the Channel 16 permit to the FOC. Muscat at one time was presi dent and Board chairman of a public, transportation firm at New York and in 1968 was Charged with'.three others with conspiring to use the firm for their own purposes. Eventually he pleaded, guilty to filing false statements 1 , and paid a $20,000 fine and., received a five-year .probation. '., . v The FCC had not renewed KMYO’s license .for the usual three-year period last year until arrangements - were made - for the sale'Of the two stations. The license since has been renewed. Ford said he had -been divid ing histime between his Los An geles operations and . ; Little Rock, but would be spending more time at Little Rock now that he owned .KMYO. The Los Angeles firm has ..- produced music for network and local radio and television commer cials, for such clients as Sun beam appliances, Keepsake dia monds and all hut one of little Rock's banks, as well as numer ous other financial institutions around the country. _ KMYO’s, programing still will include ’‘middle-of-the-road” music, but Ford-said the station, would include short features, in terviews with various celebrities and other types of programming aimed principally at - an audi ence aged 18 to 49. Ford is a native of Batesville. He worked for KLRA for years, leaving Little. Rock in 1956 for military service and a variety of jobs in various places around the country, all in broadcast or related industries.
