Does Patrick Mahomes actually sound like Kermit the Frog? An investigation.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has basically taken over the NFL with his stadium-clearing throws, late-game heroics and overall propensity for slangin’ the dang football. He has Kansas City off to a 4-0 start, and there’s so much to like about the second-year quarterback.

But there’s something NFL fans just can’t get past: His voice. That voice. Oh, man, have you heard the guy talk? You must.

Mahomes sounds every bit like the small-town Texas guy that he is, but the voice goes beyond just your typical Texas twang. NFL fans are convinced that Mahomes sounds like Kermit the Frog. Even head coach Andy Reid, who apparently has the “perfect” imitation of Mahomes’ voice, says that his quarterback sounds “froggish.”

Reid declined to break out the imitation during his press conference on Wednesday, but he did leave open the chance of hearing it later in the year. Yet, that’s another person to compare Mahomes’ voice to Kermit. There has to be something to it. In case you haven’t heard the Muppet character speak recently, this is what he sounds like.

Now, close your eyes and listen to Mahomes speak.

Now, watch this:

On its own, Mahomes’ voice isn’t as close to Kermit’s voice as I had expected. It’s easy to tell the two voices apart — though there are similarities. I think this is the best description out there. I hear Seth Rogen along with Kermit … plus some dude from Texas.

Either way, we have to respect how self aware Mahomes is about his unique voice. His teammates never let him forget about it.
