Forgotten melodious voice –

Once upon a time, the juicy and melodious voices of the Pakistani film industry gave popularity to many songs of their time and gave credence to their creators and contributed to the success of films, but then the galleries became deserted and One by one the voices became silent.

Kausar Parveen was one such singer whose many songs are reminiscent of her. This famous Pakistani singer passed away on December 30, 1967. Born in Patiala, India, Kausar Parveen’s career began in 1950.

You may have heard this song from Pakistani movie “Killer” which had lyrics:

O Mina; don’t know what happened, where the heart is lost, O Mina!

It was a song written by the eminent poet and creator of unparalleled songs Qateel Shafai which became popular all over Pakistan in the voice of Kausar Parveen.

Anwar Kamal Pasha’s film “Killer” proved to be a super hit. It is said that the songs of this film had set new records of popularity from Karachi to Delhi.

Today not only the art of music and singing style has changed but also the names which were at the height of fame and popularity in their time have been forgotten with the decline of film industry in Pakistan. Kausar Parveen is one such name who was the younger sister of famous actress Asha Posley and also the spouse of famous musician Akhtar Hussain.

Kausar Parveen recorded songs for many films in the early days of Pakistan’s film industry. In 1954, a lullaby from the movie Servant became very popular with the words:

In the twinkling of an eye, it was recorded in the voice of Kausar Parveen, and this lullaby gave him fame and recognition as a singer.

Other popular songs of Kausar Parveen include the song “Vada” from the movie “Tarse Morse Nain”. He also sang a couple of songs which were well received by the audience.
