Bollywood actress Mahima Chaudhary once met with a fatal accident when she was shooting for Dil Kya Kare. She had later revealed her near-death experience.

It was in the year 1990 when Mahima Chaudhary did a few modelling assignments and TV commercials and was steadily gaining popularity. But in the year 1997, she received her first big Bollywood break opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Pardes and thus, there was no looking back for her in the film industry. Mahima went on to become one of the most popular faces in Bollywood in the early ‘2000s and did an array of films. However, a roadblock in the form of an alleged feud with director Subhash Ghai and a horrific accident deterred her career.

Mahima Chaudhary, who would be seen in at least 4-5 films every year, mysteriously faded from Bollywood. While people and her fans would wonder about it, years later, Mahima Chaudhary revealed the real reason in an interview.

In 1999, when Mahima Chaudhary was shooting for Dil Kya Kare with Ajay Devgn and Kajol, her car rammed into a truck in Bangalore and multiple pieces of glass had to be removed from her face as a result of the horrific accident. Speaking to Pinkvilla, the actress once shared, “I thought I was dying, and at that point, no one even helped me get to the hospital. It is only after reaching the hospital, much later, when my mother came, Ajay came and they went to discuss. I got up and saw my face in the mirror and saw the horror. When they did the surgery on me, they took out 67 glass pieces.”

Mahima had to let go of a lot of films on her kitty during that time because of her accident. But she didn’t want this incident to become public back then since she feared people will not be supportive towards her. The actress had further added, “If at that time, I had discussed it and said that I had cut myself like this, they would have said... ‘oh, iska toh chehra kharab ho gaya (her face is ruined), let’s sign someone else’.”
