With over 200 different and interesting characters in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild, it's pretty challenging to find a favorite, let alone find a bunch of them! As always, "likability" is very subjective, but we've done our best to account for fan reception.

The best thing about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the characters and storyline. They are so rich and passionate that it forces the player to feel deeply for every character, although there are still the select few that hold a special place in every fan's heart.

Calamity Ganon

Calamity Ganon is the antagonist we love to hate. He is the consistent threat that plagues Hyrule, draining the power of poor Zelda and biding his time and increasing his power to one day take on Link and make his hold over the land absolute.

Ganon is the big baddie casting an ever-present shadow over the Legend of Zelda series. He may not make a physical appearance in every game, but his presence is almost always felt, and it's hard to argue against his presence, though he certainly doesn't come across as likable.

Daruk

Daruk is strong, passionate, and very friendly towards Link. Now, while he is a pretty low-ranking champion, many fans love the chemistry these two have during the cutscenes, which only makes them miss him even more.

Ultimately, it isn't just the fans that adore Daruk, there are many statues of him dotted around Hyrule. He seems to be a pretty well-known and well-respected champion. Daruk is extremely loving and provides Link with some useful gear as well as some interesting lore that is certainly a big part of his popularity and likability.

Hestu

Not only is Hestu incredibly useful, giving the player an expansion to their inventories, but he's a huge fan favorite because of his cute and interesting design, as well as the gifts he gives... regardless of his awful Korok seeds sidequest.

Perhaps the most pleasant aspect of this happy-go-lucky Korok is his penchant for dance. With maracas in hand, he'll dance given any opportunity, and it only makes him more endearing.

Mipha

Mipha may often come across as a simplistic damsel in distress, but, when explored deeper, her lore is rich and proves otherwise. She is the embodiment of excellence and calmness when talking to Link, and she certainly shows her admiration in every cutscene.

Ultimately, Mipha plays a huge part in the storyline and Links adventure, which only works to strengthen and improve the love many players have for her. She is the perfect representation of excellence and power, something the people of Hyrule and her brother definitely recognize and respect.

Prince Sidon

As Mipha's brother, it's pretty obvious that Prince Sidon is a well-respected and popular character that has a brilliant theme song and an even better storyline. His endless optimism and care for Link help him atone for the defeat of Mipha, as well as helping the player to defeat a Divine Beast, something that can be pretty tough for newbies.

He clearly has respect for his sister despite never seeing her, which certainly adds an appreciated emotional aspect to his story which undoubtedly allows fans to really enjoy Prince Sidon for the encouraging and optimistic man he really is.

Urbosa

A fan favorite among many, Urbosa is described as compassionate and strong, while also being written as a real person. She feels like the most realistic of the champions and seems to form a bit of a motherly bond with Zelda. During this, she explores her desires, motivations, and fears, which really just flesh her out as a really rich and beloved character.

The cutscenes that involve Urbosa make any others feel subpar due to the pure characterization and vulnerability she embodies. Unlike every other champion in Breath of the Wild, Urbosa's cutscenes aren't a display of her power, but rather a set of heartwarming and genuine scenes including a sleeping Zelda wrapped in the arms of this beloved champion.

Kass

Where many fans love Hestu for his dancing, they also adore Kass for his extremely moving and beautiful music. Any interaction with Kass becomes a wonderful break from hunting and exploring. It allows the player to sit back and enjoy the two things The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild does best: its beautiful landscapes and moving soundtrack.

Kass is one of the game's more memorable encounters, and he is constantly praised for his interesting riddles, quests, and his ability to just pop up exactly when Link and the player need him.

Beedle

A merchant most well-remembered for his appearance in The Wind Waker, Beedle is a beloved and resourceful traveling merchant that brings a smile to any player who comes across him.

He's such a popular character that he appears in six different games, bringing Link everything he needs whenever he needs it, at a discounted rate, something all the other merchants never do. Many fans and players swear by this wonderful character, and rightly so, as he's beyond lovable.

Zelda

It would be a travesty to not explore the likability of the legendary Zelda. Since the titular character isn't the same in each game, the creators have made sure to constantly form Zelda in a way that is appealing to players. In Breath of the Wild, Zelda certainly didn't disappoint and has rapidly become one of the best versions seen.

She is strong, beautiful, and really serves to emphasize the rich lore surrounding this main character which fans absolutely adore. Ultimately, she doesn't play the damsel in distress as much anymore, displaying a more badass, kind, and is the leading voice of Links journey.

Link aims his bow and arrow

When fans are asked who their favorite character is, many will ignore Link, opting for a champion or a character that really affected them throughout the story—or perhaps someone who has more than zero lines of dialogue. But, the one thing they are forgetting is who actually drives the story. So, after acknowledging the brilliant characters that embody this wonderful game, fans can't help but marvel at Link's wonderful persona and brilliant battle prowess.

Ultimately, Link is the main character and without him, the game wouldn't be the huge success it is now. He is incredibly loved among players, fans, and the characters within, making him the perfect hero for saving Hyrule.
