Collei is one of the upcoming characters of Genshin Impact version 3.0. She’ll be a 4-Star Dendro Bow user and will be offered free upon completion of an in-game event.

Despite her recent appearances in the game, Collei has been part of Genshin Impact lore for some time now. Collei first made her appearance in the official webcomic, where she was much younger, and in the events of the game she’s since grown into a capable ranger.

Who is Genshin Impact Collei?

In the Genshin Impact webcomic, Collei was a test subject for the Fatui and their archon residue experiments. She then escaped from their clutches and sought refuge in Mondstadt, plotting her revenge. Because of the Fatui experiments, Collei acquired the ability to create a dark flame similar to the Pyro Element. She then used her power to initiate the Black Fire Incident, harming the locals of Mondstadt in order to sneak into the city.

During her time in the City of Freedom, Collei of Genshin Impact becomes friends with Amber (albeit unwillingly, at first). Amber shows Collei around Mondstadt, even taking her to the Ludi Harpastum Festival. By the latter part of the webcomic, however, Kaeya learns that Collei was responsible for the Black Fire Incident and seeks to kill her, but Amber defends the young Collei.

By the end of the story, Collei has the archon residue in her body sealed away by Cyno of Genshin Impact, who traveled to Mondstadt from Sumeru at Lisa’s request. She then leaves the City of Freedom with Cyno, leaving Amber with only a letter of thanks.

Now, during the events of Genshin Impact, Collei is a trainee ranger working under Tighnari. Her official introduction by HoYoverse includes an article titled “To grow it to conquer the past,” signaling that Collei is moving past her turbulent childhood. Though she hasn’t forgotten the people who helped her through that time in her life as she fondly remembers Amber. In fact, they have similar kits.

Collei’s Kit in Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact leaks on Collei have revealed her abilities and how similar they are to Amber’s – the most obvious being her Elemental Burst. Here, Collei throws out a doll that causes an initial explosion and then deals continuous AoE Dendro Damage within a specific zone. Throughout the ability’s duration, Collei’s doll hops around the AoE circle. This is a mix of the effects of Amber’s Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst. People have also pointed out that the doll’s name – Cuilein-Anbar – sounds like, “Collei and Amber,” which is a wholesome touch.

Collei also has a Genshin Impact Passive Skill titled “Gliding Champion of Sumeru,” which is the same as Amber’s Utility Passive. It decreases the use of Stamina when gliding by 20%. Clearly, Collei learned a lot from her short time with Amber. As for her other attack patterns, Collei’s Normal and Charged Attacks are the standard ones for most Bow users. Meanwhile, her Elemental Skill has her throw out a gadget called a “Floral Ring.” It works like a boomerang, dealing Dendro Damage to all enemies in its path before returning to Collei.

Collei’s official list of Genshin Impact Constellations has yet to be released, but there are leaks detailing them. Based on her overall kit, Collei seems most suited as an enabler of Elemental Reactions rather than a damage dealer, as some players have noted that her attack scaling is a bit low. Her Constellations support this, as some extend Dendro application. Collei’s final Constellation even makes her call out Cuilein-Anbar to deal more Dendro Damage.

Genshin Impact is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, and a Nintendo Switch version is in development.
