Throughout May, we can expect a variety of genre series, ranging from a workplace romance to revenge and fantasy, including the long-awaited sequel to "Tale of the Nine-Tailed."
"Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938," the second season of tvN's 2020 fantasy action series, will pick up on a legendary nine-tailed creature, or "gumiho," named Lee Yeon (Lee). After having a happy ending with his long-lost love, Nam Ji-a (Cho Bo-ah), in the first season, Lee's life is disrupted when he is summoned to the 1930s after an unexpected incident.
Amid the confusion, he encounters a mysterious woman, Ryu Hong-joo (Kim So-yeon), who is a guardian spirit living in the human world as the owner of a high-end restaurant in the city. Having left behind his lover back home, Lee must find his way back to the present day while fighting off the powers that come after him.
Director Kang Shin-hyo and writer: Han Woo-ri, who created the first season, have reunited for the sequel. The series will air on May 6.
Actor Kim Dong-wook will have two new series coming out this month, KBS' new fantasy romance series "My Perfect Stranger" and tvN's crime revenge series "Delightfully Deceitful."
"My Perfect Stranger," scheduled to premiere on May 1, revolves around a straightforward, cool-headed anchor, Yoon Hae-joon (Kim Dong-wook). One day, he gets a hold of a time-traveling car. When he uses it to travel to 1987, he accidentally takes along a woman on the street, Baek Yoon-young (Jin Ki-joo), an editor at a publishing company, who recently lost her mother.
Stuck in the year, the two realize they have the same mission to complete in time and join hands to find the truth behind a serial murder case.
The series is directed and written by the creators of KBS' period romance series "The Tale of Nokdu," director Kang Soo-yeon and scriptwriter Baek So-yeon.

"Delightfully Deceitful," set to release on May 29, will follow a genius con artist, Lee Ro-woom (Chun Woo-hee) who lacks the ability to empathize with others. Using her brain, she has made a fortune committing fraud. One day, she comes across a passionate, excessively-empathetic lawyer Han Moo-young (Kim Dong-wook).
The two come to form an unlikely alliance to go against the wrongdoers and take revenge.
The series is led by director Lee Soo-hyun, whose previous work includes the 2022 rom-com "Shooting Star," and is written by the newcomer Han Woo-joo.
Disney+ will roll out a new Korean original series, "Race," on May 10.
The workplace series will be about a PR agent, Park Yoon-zo (Lee Yeon-hee), who recently landed a position at a large conglomerate where her best friend, Ryu Jae-min (Hong Jong-hyun), works. Despite her lack of experience and qualifications, she earns the job with her passion and hard work but soon becomes the target of a rumor that her hire involved corruption.
Struggling through work and rumors, she meets her role model, PR specialist Ku Yi-jung (Moon So-ri) who guides Yoon-zo through her life.
The series is directed by Lee Dong-yoon, whose previous work includes the 2021 romance series, "She Would Never Know" and is written by Kim Ru-ri, who scripted the 2020 courtroom series, "Hyena."
