To this end and to commemorate the prestigious institution's 140th anniversary, the first annual meeting of GNA will take place in Washington DC on July 30, 2022, said a press release.

Based on preliminary registration, about 300 people, including 200 alumni of the past seven decades, are expected to attend the day-long event.

Highlights of the event will include an interactive session between teachers and students in Dhaka and conference attendees.

Spearheaded by former vice chancellor of Brac University, Dr Syed Saad Andaleeb, former students of the school came together and formed GNA to help St Gregory's educational programmes, facilities, teachers and students as well as develop broader implementable initiatives for the ongoing development of Bangladesh.

The event will be capped off with an elaborate cultural show featuring well known artists.

GNA was incorporated as a not-for-profit organisation in January, 2022.

St Gregory's High School and College is one of the most distinguished educational institutions of Bangladesh.

Founded in 1882 by the Catholic Order of Holy Cross, a number of famous nation builders studied at this institution.

They include the first prime minister of Bangladesh Tajuddin Ahmed, author of Bangladesh's first constitution Dr Kamal Hossain, former president Dr Badruddoza Chowdhury, Nobel laureate in economics Dr Amartya Sen, National Professor Dr Jamilur Reza Choudhury, and many others.

Dr Faisal M Rahman and Wahid Shams are the founding chair and secretary of the organisation.
