Marvel Studios' Werewolf By Night will be back to celebrate Halloween 2023 but this time it's ditching the aesthetics of the past for a more modernized look.

Per Bloody Disgusting, the popular Special Presentation will be released on Disney+ on Oct. 20 in color, doing away with the black-and-white look that drew the attention of fans and critics. To further celebrate the spooky season, Werewolf By Night will also be made available to stream on Hulu from Sept. 15 all the way through to Oct. 31 but this version will be the original that was released in 2022.

Werewolf By Night follows Jack Russell, a mysterious man who joins a secret cabal of hunters who have made it their mission to slay the monstrosity known as the Man-Thing. Little does the group know that one of their own is actually the titular werewolf and he has his own plans for the night. The Special Presentation was universally loved by fans and critics for its wholly unique aesthetic, borrowing heavily from Universal's classic monster movies.

Werewolf By Night's Future

While Marvel Studios made it clear that Werewolf By Night was intended as a standalone story, that doesn't mean the characters who appear won't show up again. Actor Laura Donnelly has gone on record to state that she's eager to reprise the role of Elsa Bloodstone especially since she believes the character's journey is only just beginning. "The thing that I love about this particular story for Elsa is that we get such a sense that we’re only at the beginning of something for her; she’s not introduced as the character that we know from the comics," Donnelly explained. "It’s her pre-that or maybe she has been that and something has happened — we don’t know. And so it does feel like it’s only this little taster of many, many layers that are there underneath and a huge backstory."

As for Werewolf By Night's unique tone, producer Stephen Broussard has suggested that while it may be the first Marvel Cinematic Universe project to fully embrace horror, he believes it also won't be the last. "Well, I will say that we're starting to introduce some cool characters that are in the darker side, the more monster side and the supernatural and the occult in a very organic way as you're seeing these characters pop up," Broussard said. "think in very organic ways, it feels like there could be ways to continue those stories in ways that feel very fresh and new and keeping our toe in that horror side of things."

Werewolf By Night is now streaming on Disney+. The "In Color" version will hit the streamer on Oct. 20.
