The two-day South Indian International Awards (SIIMA) ceremony commenced in Dubai on Friday, and the opening day of the event was a glamorous and star-studded extravaganza.
On the first day of the gala, winners from the Telugu and Kannada film industries were announced. The ceremony will shift the spotlight to the Malayalam and Tamil film industries on Saturday.
In Telugu, both SS Rajamouli’s RRR and Hanu Raghavapudi’s Sita Ramam received several prestigious awards, while Kiranraj K’s 777 Charlie and Rishab Shetty’s Kantara stood out as remarkable winners in Kannada categories.
While Sita Ramam bagged the award for Best Film (Telugu), 777 Charlie bagged the coveted trophy for Best Film (Kannada). Meanwhile, the awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role were bagged by NT Rama Rao Jr (Telugu) and Yash (Kannada) for their performances in RRR and KGF: Chapter 2, respectively.
Simultaneously, SS Rajamouli clinched the coveted trophy for Best Director (Telugu) for his epic action drama film RRR.
