The Marvels includes four major cameos from across the vast Marvel Cinematic Universe that teases the future of the franchise in some tantalizing ways. For the most part, The Marvels' cast of characters allows the film to be a majoritively self-contained story. While the film ties together the stories of Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel with doses of WandaVision and Secret Invasion, the story largely concerns elements found within those various properties for the first two-thirds of the movie.

However, by the time of The Marvels' cliffhanger ending, the third Phase 5 film adequately sets up the future entries into the MCU. Through the film's final scene and The Marvels' post-credit scene, the paths ahead for Kamala Khan, Carol Danvers, and Monica Rambeau become clear via four major MCU cameos. While one of The Marvels' MCU appearances is not integral to the story, it serves as a neat connection to the wider universe of the franchise.

Valkyrie

Tessa Thompson

The first major cameo found in The Marvels' story comes from Valkyrie, the King of New Asgard. Midway through the film, the titular Marvels attempt to stop the villainous Kree warlord Dar-Benn from attacking a colony of Skrulls on a distant planet. The team is unable to stop this attack and is forced to flee with only a handful of Skrull survivors aboard Carol's ship. The Marvels then vow to stop Dar-Benn from terrorizing other planets, but not before giving the Skrulls somewhere safe to live for now.

This place comes in the form of New Asgard. After Carol sends her a distress call, Valkyrie uses the Bifrost to appear on the former's ship. The two have a nice moment together that hints a friendship has formed off-screen in the MCU before Valkyrie transports the newly displaced Skrulls back to New Asgard. The cameo is not overly integral to The Marvels' story but works as a way of hinting at a future exploration of the friendship between Carol and Valkyrie while solidifying the film's place amid the broader universe.

Kate Bishop

Hailee Steinfeld

Undoubtedly a much bigger cameo found in the film is Kate Bishop who appears in the final scene of the movie. Through this sequence, The Marvels confirms the MCU's Young Avengers cast, or at least three members of the team. After stopping Dar-Benn, Kamala Khan becomes inspired by her brief team-up with Captain Marvel and Monica Rambeau. As such, Kamala begins searching out other younger superheroes starting with Kate Bishop.

In a humorous scene, Kamala acts as a confident Nick Fury-esque character. Kamala states she is putting together a team of young superheroes before pointedly noting that Ant-Man has a daughter, seemingly confirming the third member of the fledgling Young Avengers after Ms. Marvel and Kate Bishop. The film ends with Kate giving Kamala a knowing smile, setting up the future of the Young Avengers in the MCU.

Maria Rambeau

Lashana Lynch

While Kate Bishop's surprise The Marvels cameo is a big deal, the film's post-credit scene somehow outdoes this. After being lost in space and time, Monica awakens in a hospital bed. To her left, she finds her mother, Maria Rambeau. This caused Monica to break down in grief and disbelief given that her mother died during the Blip in the MCU. However, Monica quickly becomes aware that this version of Maria Rambeau is not her mother at all and that she has woken up in another facet of the MCU's multiverse.

Interestingly, this version of Maria Rambeau is addressed as Binary. In Marvel Comics, Binary is one of the few superhero names that has been adopted by Carol Danvers. In the MCU and The Marvels, it seems as though Maria Rambeau holds this title in one of the timelines of the multiverse after also appearing as another universe's Captain Marvel in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Beast

Kelsey Grammer

Both Kate Bishop and Maria Rambeau/Binary are exciting cameos in The Marvels, though neither compares to Hank McCoy/Beast making an appearance. As more of The Marvels' end-credits scene plays out, Monica discovers she is being held in a house that viewers will recognize as one belonging to the X-Men. This is confirmed when Beast appears, played once again by Kelsey Grammer, reprising his role from X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Beast theorizes that Monica is from another dimension given the strange circumstances under which she was found. Beast then addressed Maria Rambeau as Binary before leaving the room. Interestingly, this version of Beast looks to be an entirely CGI construct rather than the physical, practical make-up look Grammer deployed in the X-Men movies. Regardless, Beast's inclusion in The Marvels is incredibly exciting and only furthers the continued MCU teases towards the X-Men finally being adapted by Marvel Studios.
