Elon Musk is offering $1 billion to Wikipedia, here’s why

Elon Musk has been in the news for various wrong reasons since he acquired X, previously known as Twitter. He posts on X regularly and sometimes his comments land him into controversy. In one such case, the billionaire said that he would pay Wikipedia $1 billion if they changed their name.
The problem is not changing the name but in the name that he wants Wikipedia to change to.“I will give them a billion dollars if they change their name toDickipedia,” he said, adding that he would do so “in the interests of accuracy.”
What started the conversation
Musk shared a screenshot of Wikipedia's homepage which read "Wikipedia is not for sale" and "a personal appeal from Jimmy Wales".
“Have you ever wondered why the Wikimedia Foundation wants so much money?” Musk said for the message in the screenshot.
“It certainly isn’t needed to operate Wikipedia. You can literally fit a copy of the entire text on your phone! So, what’s the money for? Inquiring minds want to know …” he added

Deal is for a year
When a user responded saying, “@Wikipedia, Do it! You can always change it back after you collect," Musk replied by saying, “One year minimum. I mean, I'm not a fool lol.”

Musk also urged Wikipedia to “Please add that to the 🐄💩 on my wiki page.” It must be noted that when you send a query to Twitter, a poop emoji comes in reply.
Musk mocks Mastodon
When Musk took over the company, a lot of people, including celebrities started to jump the ship and landed on Mastodon. The Twit Chief apparently did not like and mocked the platform using a derogatory wordplay on X. He later deleted the tweets.
In his first tweet, Musk reportedly shared an image of Mastodon and tweeted, "If you don’t like Twitter anymore, there is an awesome site called Masterbatedone." Then he replied to his own tweet saying, "Gee, I wonder why the screen is so dirty …" In a related tweet, he said, "What do you call someone who is a master at baiting?"
