Scrap Projects

I have been trying to knock off some UFOs and it's a slow process. I haven't started any new quilt projects in order to get my UFOs done. This is a scrap quilt that has been hanging in my closet. Its not a big quilt, just a lap size.

New Sewing Projects

Hello! It's been a long time. I am so happy when I get to do something sewing related these days. I hope to be able to do more of it on a steady basis. Up first is this super quick sewing project, an infinity scarf.

2015 Finishes

Happy New Year!!! As I reflect back on my sewing accomplishments this past year I didn't realize how much I had finished. I sewed quite a bit more clothing than my usual Halloween costumes.

Fabric Baskets

These baskets are a snap to put together. I decided on how big I would like to make them and did a sample on muslin to make sure I got it right. These are a good size for organizing fabrics or sewing supplies. I love these prints from Dena Designs London collection paired with solids.

Zipper Pouch and a Pincushion

I love making pouches and accessories. This was for my swap partner. I also included small treats that I forgot to take a picture of.  I made three of these pincushions, one was for me to keep and two were for swaps I joined.

This zippered pouch was fun to put together with the ruffles. I love ruffles. They add a fun touch to bags and accessories.  I also made a key fob with some small strips of fabric I had left over from other projects. This was a lot of florals but my partner says she loves floral prints. This was a lot of sewing for me but I am so glad to have a chance to sit down and sew. I hope you are having fun sewing and shopping this Christmas season. There is nothing like a handmade Christmas.

Sewing Machine Cover

This is my second year joining Cheryll for the Santa Sack Swap. The participants were to make each other 6 gifts. One of those gifts had to be a sack, bag or stocking. My partner and I decided to do something different and make each other a sewing machine cover.

Halloween Sewing

It seems like every year my girls choose a character that is hard to find a costume for or not available at all like this year. They were not able to shop for the materials with me until the week of the Halloween party. Here's the aftermath of 2 days worth of sewing and 2 1/2 hours of sleep total.

Mini Quilt Swap

I haven't had much time sewing as of late but I did join some swaps. It really pushed me to create and it was just what I needed. I bought some charm packs of Bonnie & Camille's new line called Hello Darling. I love the beautiful prints and colors are so cheery.

Beautiful Dreamer Cardigan

I don't know if you would call this a work in progress (WIP) since I started sewing this cardigan last night (Tuesday) and finished it today (Wed). I bought this knit fabric to make a tshirt not realizing that it has a ton of holes in the design until I got home and actually opened up the fabric to look at it. Since it's lightweight I thought it would be a nice Summer cardigan for cool nights.

Scrappy Mountain Majesties Finish

I really worked overtime to finish this quilt. I am so happy it's done and gifted. I used up quite a bit of fabric for this Scrappy Mountain Majesties quilt. The quilt finished at 60" x 70". I went with a scrappy binding to use the solids that came with this fabric collection (Moda Fabrics - Simple Mark Summer).

Work In Progress...Scrappy Mountain Majesties

I had to take a break from this quilt while I finished up some garment sewing last week. Now that Summer break is here, I can get back to finishing up my unfinished quilts. I made this quilt using Bonnie's Scrappy Mountain Majesties tutorial. I love the scrappy look and it was a great way to use up my stash.

Esme Top Finish

I am loving making this Esme Top from Sew Liberated. I do have to make minor adjustments to it but it's such a fun pattern and well worth it to make. My daughter chose this fun print from Cloud 9 Fabrics that was already in my stash.

Esme Top Finish

WOW!!! It seems like you all loved the striped shirt in the previous post. I've got hundreds of views from it. Thank you so much for stopping by!
Onto the Esme top from Sew Liberated. I am so happy to finish it today. The pattern was quite simple. I have some tips to help make it easier for those who would like to give this pattern a try. Please note that all opinions are my own. I am not paid to review this pattern. I bought it for my own use.

WIP...Shirt

I've finally finished this garment. I have done buttons before but only one at a time so this was definitely a challenge, but once I got going it was actually quite fun. To recap on this shirt, I used this stripe print from Sarah Jane Studios. I believe this line is retired, but I am sure you can still find them in various online shops. I also added a red Kona solid for the collar to give it a contrasting look and break up the stripes.

Fashion Sewing

I have been doing some clothes sewing lately to add to my wardrobe. I love pairing knit fabrics with lace. It jazzes up a simple t-shirt instantly. I love the feel of these knits. They are so soft and drapes beautifully.

Daisy Applique Quilt

Happy Friday! This is my first finish for 2015. One UFO down and a few more to go. I can't remember how I ended up with these fabrics, but I wanted to use them up. I thought some sort of floral appliqué would be nice. I drew the daisy freehand than cut them out to create a template for the appliqué block.
