On our weekend family getaway, I stopped by The Intrepid Thread and picked up some fabrics and patterns for a couple of sewing projects. DD wanted these Tim Holtz fabrics for a tunic.

Happy Monday and a Thank You

Happy Monday! We've been spending time at the beach every week this Summer and it feels so nice to be outdoors. I love the ocean and watching my family play in the water. It never gets old. I have been really fortunate to win fabrics and sewing goodies from generous sponsors. This lovely fat quarter bundle is from Lima Sews. I won a $50 gift certificate and I chose Art Gallery Fabrics' Emmy Grace bundle by Bari J.

Sidetracked and a New Accessory

I got sidetracked with organizing and moving things around so alot of the things I planned to finish had to wait. It sure feels nice to throw things out that have been sitting around for far too long. I still have to find a place for all my fabric scraps and weed through my craft cabinet which hasn't seen the light of day in a few years.
Anywho...I signed up for Art Gallery Fabrics' Sept. challenge so with all the mess, I had to get the challenge project done. I mean I don't have to, but once I sign up for something I will get it done and done it is. This is my submission, a laptop sleeve with a pocket. I bought these fabrics a couple of years ago when my local quilt shop was having a huge sale. I bought yards and yards of it for some home sewing projects, but sadly did not get around to doing. I figured this is a great challenge because I need a laptop sleeve to protect my computer and I want a zippered closure to prevent any mishaps. The hardest part about this challenge was sitting down and drafting up my own pattern, not that I can't. It just takes me a while to think of something. I didn't want just a plain old sleeve with a pocket. I wanted to add some sort of quilting to it. I sketched many different ones and I finally settled on this design. I hope I win. It would be sew much fun to have some of their new fabrics to play with.

I will be back this week with the final tutorials for the Homecoming Table Topper. Thanks for hanging in there with me while get my things in order :-)

Fabric Shopping

I was looking for some Hometown yardage and none of my LQSs carried them. I found this grey print while we were on our trip. I also scored on the white and black fabrics. They were on sale at 50% off so I got some to make myself a bag. I've already sketched the design for my bag. I just need to make time to sew it.

I bought some of these Classic Spots fabrics from Kaffe Fassett. I bought 1/2 yards of these to split them into fat quarters to give half to my friend and half for me to keep.

I fell in love with the batik fabrics so I bought a bit of yardage to make some bags. They will be small. I would like to make one for myself so I don't carry around a big bag all the time.

Day After Christmas Shopping

I got up early (8:30 am) this morning and went to Target to pick up some wrapping papers for next year. We finally finished ALL of our wrapping paper that I bought 14 years ago. I went hog wild because they were $.25 per role. Now it's all gone. It sure was fun to buy new ones.

I also stopped by my LQS and bought some Christmas fabrics at 40% off. I bought more than I planned to, but I really don't have alot of Christmas fabrics in my stash and I have plans to complete a Christmas project each month next year. I guess you could say "Christmas Through the Year" for me.
Here's what I bought:

A Charm Pack of Flurry by Kate Spain.

A Flurry Jellyroll and Countdown to Christmas Jellyroll by Kate Spain and Sweetwater.

Flurry fabrics by Kate Spain and Snowflake tonal print from Moda.

More Countdown to Christmas by Sweetwater.

I have plans to make a couple of quilts, Christmas stockings and some little accessories with these fabrics. Can't wait to get started.

Just a quick post today. It's been a busy summer. I am getting all sorts of new fabrics. It's so much fun! So many projects dancing in my head. This is a fat quarter bundle from the Hometown collection by Sweetwater. I love all the prints in this collection. I am thinking a bag, a quilt and maybe some small accessories. Can't wait to have time to make them.
