1		HOUSE RESOLUTION
2		WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3		Representatives are pleased to honor State Representative
4		Michael Connelly on his time in the General Assembly and his
5		commitment to the citizens of his district; and
6		WHEREAS, Representative Connelly was born in Chicago and
7		raised in LaGrange as one of Tom and Ann Connelly's 7 children;
8		he graduated from Loyola University in 1986 and the John
9		Marshall Law School in 1989; he served as an assistant State's
10		Attorney in Cook County, a law clerk to Justice Allan Stouder
11		of the Illinois Appellate Court, and has been engaged in the
12		private practice of law for over 16 years; and
13		WHEREAS, From 2006 to 2008, Representative Connelly
14		represented the cities of Naperville, Lisle, and Aurora, as a
15		commissioner on the DuPage County Board; he served as chairman
16		of the Economic Development Committee and the Emergency
17		Telephone Safety Board (911 Board) and was a member of the
18		Judicial Public Safety, Legislative, and Environmental
19		Committees; and
20		WHEREAS, Before his election to the DuPage County Board in
21		2006, Representative Connelly served for 6 years as a trustee
22		on the Village of Lisle Board of Trustees; he initiated and

1		spearheaded the award-winning Village of Lisle/Benedictine
2		University Sports Complex project, a joint venture partnership
3		between the Village and the University; for his efforts, the
4		Daily Herald named Representative Connelly "Man of the Year" in
5		2004; and
6		WHEREAS, In 2007, Representative Connelly received the
7		Award of Excellence in Government from the Illinois State Crime
8		Commission; in 2008, he was awarded the Bishop Sheil Award from
9		the Illinois Police Athletic League; and
10		WHEREAS, Representative Connelly was recently awarded the
11		Illinois Chamber of Commerce 2011-2012 "Champion of Free
12		Enterprise" for demonstrating a commitment to legislation that
13		frees the entrepreneurial spirit; and
14		WHEREAS, Representative Connelly's first bill passed
15		changed the procurement procedure in Illinois to allow for
16		reverse online auctions; and
17		WHEREAS, Representative Connelly has his own cable TV show,
18		the DuPage Report; and
19		WHEREAS, During Representative Connelly's tenure in the
20		House of Representatives, he has served on the Judiciary I -
21		Civil Law Committee, the Business Occupational Licenses

1		Committee, the Public Utilities Committee, the Small Business
2		Empowerment & Workforce Committee, the Financial Institutions
3		Committee, the Veterans' Affairs Committee, the Health Care
4		Availability Access Committee, the Appropriations-Public
5		Safety Committee, the Business Occupational Licenses
6		Committee, and the Tourism & Conventions Committee; and
7		WHEREAS, Representative Connelly and his wife Lisa are the
8		proud parents of 3 children; therefore, be it
9		RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10		NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11		we honor Representative Michael Connelly on his time in the
12		General Assembly and recognize the commitment he's made to the
13		people of his district; and be it further
14		RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15		presented to Representative Connelly as an expression of our
16		esteem and respect.
