Fireing target on the minis question?WWII

When using the minis ,where is the red dot firing spot like the cards have?Is the firing aiming point different.Thanks STT  PS I am refering to the WWII minis.

Same as the card, use the peg.  When playing with minis many also use the optional rule of hit the plane.  So in order to hit a target the ruler must reach the physical model not the base.
