The darkened steel striking face is perfectly flat, and the square neck leads back to flat shield-shaped sides and a spiked finial. At the back, a curved six-inch spike counterbalances the hammer head perfectly, and two studded straps of darkened steel protect the top of the mountain ash haft when parrying a blow.
