Final Fantasy VII Remake Sells Over 700,000 Units in Japan, PS4 Sales Nearly Hit 80,000 - Sales

Final Fantasy VII Remake (PS4) has debuts in first on the retail charts in Japan with sales of 702,853, according to Famitsu for the week ending April 12.
Seven of the top 10 games are for the Nintendo Switch and three are for the PlayStation 4.
The PlayStation 4 was the best-selling platform with 79,059 units sold. The Nintendo Switch sold 25,313 units, the 3DS sold 1,614 units, and the Xbox One sold 34 units.

Pretty much the physical opening I was expecting from Japan. Probably could have eeked out a 900k opening if not for the outbreak, but still pretty damn strong sales.
You think the 700,000 sales don't include digital???
The numbers are from the Japanese retail charts so nope no digital.
for reference, thats the switch's baseline sales in japan, which is a HUGE spike for ps4
I think ff is more popular in the west, dragon quest is more popular in japan.
Considering the restricted movement order worldwide, I am expecting the game to have a record breaking 1st week digitally for Square Enix. Cannot wait for the full report from them!
Wow, it beat FFXV's first week of 690,000 units. Not by much, but hey...I'll take it! I was kinda hoping this one would break 1 million in Japan's opening week. I guess the franchise, even in Japan, isn't what it used to be and even the FFVII name can't bring players in. The gameplay is just too different from classic jrpg that they are used to.
FFXV did over 5 million worldwide opening so I'm eager to see if FFVII matches or better's it. This article freaked me out at first lol....I almost read the 80, 000 units as being PS4 US sales for the game hahaha.
Seems like it pushed some systems, impressive for a remake, already having FF released, old system that isn't that popular in Japan.
This may mean a very good opening week global.

Not...really. This is Japan, not worldwide so naturally most of this game's sales will be achieved in the west. Also, this is only digital and week 1. With digital, I think ultimately Part 1 will hit 2-2.5M in Japan if not more.

It's physical only, and if it's anything the west alot of people would have opted for digital as you can't physically go to alot of stores atm.
Ehh... no? Animal Crossing is breaking the bank in physical sales, and that's a title much more suited to a digital copy.
PS: Jesus Chirst the downvoting is ridiculous in this site...
PS4 has a higher digital than switch simply because it comes with a much larger hdd size and that Nintendos eshop profits are relatively small compare to Sony psn
