RUSSIAN POLITICIANS ASTOUNDED WITH TERROR IN USA

Tremendously awful acts of terrorism in the USA became the central news subject for the Russian political life. The majority of the Russian politicians expressed their opinion regarding the most horrible events in the US ever.

Russian President Vladimir Putin appeared on the Russian television yesterday night with his address to the American nation. He said the events in the States were the unexampled act of aggression of the international terrorism: “The events which took place today repeatedly stressed out Russia’s offers to unite the forces of the international community to struggle against terror – the plague of the 21 century. Russia knows what terrorism is not by hearsay so we have better understanding of American citizens’ feelings. Addressing to the people of the USA on behalf of Russia I would like to say that we are together with you, we totally share you pain. We support you”, - declared the President.

Some Russian politicians urged to unite Russia and USA’s forces to struggle against the world terrorism. The chairman of the Russian Parliament faction People’s Deputy, Gennady Raykov, sent a telegram to the US ambassador to Russia Alexander Vershbow in which he wrote about the necessity of synergy to extirpate the world terrorism. The leader of the Union of Rightist Forces (known for the Russian initials SPS) Boris Nemtsov had the same spirit expressing his opinion on the matter: “The problem of terrorism is a global threat that requires consolidated actions from the world community. The countries and regions that render any help to terrorists must be put under tough control of the world community. The only chance for those countries to guarantee peace and safety for their citizens is to deliver the terrorists and participants of acts of terror”.

Deputy supervisor of the Yabloko movement Sergey Ivanenko called upon Russia to render political help to the USA: “It goes without saying the United States will react to such actions – their reaction will be very tough and the situation in the Middle East may grow more intense as a result. Russia must have a stable and efficient position towards the struggle with international terrorism under such circumstances”.

Vice-speaker of the Russian Parliament Irina Khakamada also had a special address to the media in which she considered the terrible events in the States to be “the start of the terrorist war”. “Terrorists’ actions are aimed against the democratic organization of the world which has been formed during the latest decades. In case if the USA will decide to do something which is logic for a country in the state of the war, then there will be a threat posed for the international security – right to the nuclear threat”, - said she.

The factions Fatherland – All Russia and the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) offered concrete actions to struggle with terror. Fatherland – All Russia distributed a statement in which it was said: “The world is entering its new phase. Previous division into camps and groups lost its point, the world faced the absolutely new challenge and the threat is common for everyone”. The document calls upon the U.N. to summon the special session of the U.N. Security Council in order to develop the program of global actions to struggle with international terrorism.

CPRF leader Gennady Zyuganov announced about the necessity to summon the special session of Russia’s Security Council with a view to discuss security measures. At the same time Zyuganov called upon the USA to refrain from any hurried actions for innocent Arabs may suffer from them.

Yevgeny Primakov – the leader of Fatherland – All Russia was very emotional in his TV appearance on TV6 Russian channel. He said it was “a monstrous crime against the human kind”. Russia’s former premier was not against the revenge to terrorists, however he also cautioned the USA against thoughtless actions.

The statements from the leader of the Liberal and Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), Vladimir Zhirinovsky, were original as always. Zhirinovsky characterized yesterday’s tragedy as the reasonable development of the events which was to be expected due to USA’s aspiration to have the world reign. Zhirinovsky’s party-mate Aleksei Mitrofanov assumed in his interview to the television company REN-TV that all acts of terror were performed by the members of the American ultra-rightists sects.

Russian EMERCOM Sergey Shoygu prepared the aircrafts of his department for an emergency flight to the US. Shoygu received those instructions from President Putin yesterday. Vladimir Platonov - the chairman of the Moscow City Parliament - addressed to Shoygu with the same request. The flags of Russia and Moscow were lowered today in memory of the people who fell victims to the terror in America. President Putin ordered to announce a minute of silence tomorrow at midday “as a vestige of solidarity with the American people”.
