Sabres Sign Two Prospects
Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier today announced the team has signed center/left wing Paul Gaustad and right wing Sean McMorrow. Both players signed three-year NHL entry-level contracts.

Gaustad, 6-5, 210 pounds, played for Portland last season in the Western Hockey League and tallied 36 goals, 44 assists, 80 points and 202 penalty minutes. McMorrow, 6-4, 210 pounds, skated for Oshawa of the Ontario Hockey League last season. He scored six goals, two assists and racked up 170 penalty minutes. McMorrow had the distinction last season as being the toughest player in the Ontario Hockey league.

“We’re very happy to have signed these two prospects,” said Regier. “Both of these players will add depth to the organization and will begin their careers with the Rochester Americans. Paul Gaustad is a big, physical forward who had a very impressive junior career. He finished last season with 36 goals, 80 points and 202 penalty minutes. Sean McMorrow, who had 170 penalty minutes last season, is a gritty, rugged, right winger who likes to play very physical.”

The Sabres did not sign Gerard DeCaire and Gerard Rousseau and both prospects will re-enter this year’s draft.
