Adderbury Village
Morris dance was common in and around the village of Adderbury during the
1800's, but disappeared in the 1880's. It was revived in 1974 from the legendary
notes which Cecil Sharp and Janet Blunt made in 1916 and 1918.
Due to differences of opinion, two dance sides formed
(Adderbury Morris Men, and Adderbury Village)
with different styles of costume and dancing, and both have thrived in this new
renaissance of folk dance.
